Epicor Eclipse

Epicor Eclipse is an enterprise resource planning system for wholesale distributors in the electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and PVF (pipes, valves, and fittings) trades. Businesses outside these trades tend to get less value from Eclipse's specialized tools.

The system's core capabilities include:

  • Sales order management: quote and order entry from the counter, a mobile device, EDI, or a customer-facing storefront, with real-time order information.
  • Warehouse management: receiving, put-away, picking, cycle counting, and inventory adjustments, with wireless scanning support on the warehouse floor.
  • Purchasing and supply chain: demand forecasting and automated purchase order suggestions meant to keep the right stock on hand without tying up cash in slow-moving inventory
  • Financial management: integrated accounting, credit management, and reporting
  • CRM: contact and account history, contract pricing, and service tracking
  • Job management: tools for tracking longer commercial and residential jobs, including bids, bills of materials, and multi-phase scheduling
Business intelligence: built-in standard reporting plus Epicor Data Analytics for interactive dashboards
  • Open API: a REST-based, .NET Core API that connects Eclipse data to other business systems, with premium bundles available for order management and warehouse integrations
  • Mobile and showroom access: Epicor's companion mobile app, Epicor Showcase for Eclipse, lets sales staff pull up product, accessory, and pricing information on a phone or tablet while walking a customer through a showroom or job site, feeding orders directly back into Eclipse.

Distributors often use Eclipse with third-party tools like Avalara for tax calculation, Elite EXTRA for delivery routing, and Phocas for additional analytics.

Product timeline and acquisition

The Eclipse ERP dates back to 1990, when a company called Eclipse Inc. first built it as a distribution management system. Intuit bought the company in 2002, Activant acquired it in 2007, and Epicor acquired Eclipse in 2011, after acquiring Activant through a merger.

Is Epicor Eclipse being discontinued?

In January 2026, Epicor announced final on-premises feature release dates for three of their ERP products: Kinetic, Prophet 21, and BisTrack, with on-premises development winding down between 2026 and 2028. Eclipse was not part of that announcement.

The ERP has received regular updates, including releases 2024.1, 2025.1, and 2025.2 in November 2025.
